Currently, a transitional period applies until 31 December 2020, during which freedom of movement under EU law is still applicable to UK nationals. This legal status changes on 1 January 2021. Registration of UK nationals with the Munich Foreigners Office According to the withdrawal agreement, you preserve your right of residence, if you are living in Germany under EU freedom of movement on 31 December 2020 and continue to live in Ger- many after 1 January 2021. As proof of your right deriving from the withdrawal agreement you need a residence document (Aufenthaltsdokument-GB). To obtain the new residence document you need to register your residence by 30 June 2021 at the Foreigners Office (see section 16 sub—section 2 sentence 2 Freedom of Movement Act/EU).
